Do You Know What Foreign Investors Want In Tanzania?

Foreigner investors want your skills, so learn how to sell your skills not your degree

They want specialized people, so don’t just list broad industry skills hoping it meet your target’s needs.

They want people who are ready to work independent not those who they can spend their time and money to train them again. Beyond entry level jobs, don’t just say that you can learn.

They want to see results so show them how to make it happen.

They want current skills people so whether you are a new grad or have 10 years of experience either way, your resume/CV should tell them that you are current and relevant.

They want to see the real value so demonstrate your value in numerical results or percentages.

They want to see people who trust themselves and know how to brag their rights when they have done it right so claim your responsibility.

They want intelligent people so show your intelligence by proofreading and remove all typos, but those big words you know ....keep it for some other time. Use simple words big words don't impress.

They want to know your story so tell them your story i.e you started at A did XYZ and then you went to B etc.

They want knowledgeable people so don't be shy to ask questions if you didn't understand. Don't be just a yes sir, yes sir kind of person. That is a big turn off to foreigner investors.

They want truly confident people so don't leave your confidence at home but don't be cocky.

Remember most managers are NOT LOOKING for the smartest or the best candidates, they are simply looking for the person who they think will be the one they can easily manage and get along with. So it doesn't matter how qualified you are if you aren't going to fit in you won't be in. So learn how you can fit in before you walk in.
