How To Tell If Someone Is Lying To You

How many times have you been lied? Research suggests that most of us, if in the right circumstances, would indeed lie, cheat, or steal. So how do you tell that someone is lying?

  • A lot of people will look to the left they are lying (when you look to the left your brain is "creating an auditory thought." When you look to the right, your brain is "remembering an auditory thought").
  • May have facial twitches.
  • Not look you in the eyes If they are light skin might go red in the face.
  • May move from foot to foot or even go into another room to avoid answering.
  • May question you about something else trying to throw you off track.
  • May repeat your question before they answer it.
  • May ask you to repeat the question to give them time to think what to answer.
  • Will elaborate so much when answering a simple question.
  • Will play with their hair, fidgets, or will tap their fingers.
  • Will try to act tired so they will pretend to not hear you talking.
  • May subconsciously touch their face (lying causes the body to send a slight tingling sensation to the face).
