- Twitter isn’t Facebook.
- Following isn’t Friending.
- Twitter is for the friends you don’t know yet.
- What if everyone protect their tweets?
- Protecting your Tweets is a barrier to connections.
- You can block the bad actors.
- You won't be searchable.
- You will irritate your friends.
- You will be invisible (sort of).
- People won’t share your Twitter content.
- The solution to some unwanted followers is to get a LOT of followers.
- In most cases you will have to initiate follows.
- You’re enjoying an unrealistic sense of security if you believe having “protected tweets" really protects your tweets.
- Technically no one can retweet your tweets but CAN quote you, which is basically the same thing.
- There is only one way to start a conversation, and that is to talk to people.
- You will have more followers because people know what your tweets are all about.
- Listens in on others’ conversations without contributing it’s unwelcome behavior in real life, so don’t do it in Twitter.
- With a protected profile, the impression you’re giving to people is that you don’t want to talk to them. And Twitter is all about talking to other people.
- You’re in a tiny minority
- Be smart.
