20 reasons why you should NOT protect your Tweets

Personal I find it disturbing and strange someone to follow me but not allow me to follow him/her. Twitter is definitely outside zone for many but what's the point of being on it if you're just going to hide? Privacy setting make much more sense in Facebook where sharing is more of personal things. So here are some more good reasons why you should NOT protect your tweets.

  1. Twitter isn’t Facebook.
  2. Following isn’t Friending.
  3. Twitter is for the friends you don’t know yet.
  4. What if everyone protect their tweets?
  5. Protecting your Tweets is a barrier to connections.
  6. You can block the bad actors.
  7. You won't be searchable.
  8. You will irritate your friends.
  9. You will be invisible (sort of).
  10. People won’t share your Twitter content.
  11. The solution to some unwanted followers is to get a LOT of followers.
  12. In most cases you will have to initiate follows.
  13. You’re enjoying an unrealistic sense of security if you believe having “protected tweets" really protects your tweets.
  14. Technically no one can retweet your tweets but CAN quote you, which is basically the same thing.
  15. There is only one way to start a conversation, and that is to talk to people.
  16. You will have more followers because people know what your tweets are all about.
  17. Listens in on others’ conversations without contributing it’s unwelcome behavior in real life, so don’t do it in Twitter.
  18. With a protected profile, the impression you’re giving to people is that you don’t want to talk to them. And Twitter is all about talking to other people.
  19. You’re in a tiny minority
  20. Be smart.
