I always ask to myself why do we have only one major big city in Tanzania? Why everything is squeezed in that little area while we have so much big and beautiful land? Why only a city and towns that founded by mkoloni are the ones that flourished and appeared to have well and understandable plans? Aren't we careful or knowledgeable enough to design many more new towns or cities on our own?. I think Tanzania is a very beautiful country but if only its people will learn to spread their wings and live in different parts of the country. Tanzania is a very beautiful country but if only the Govt helps people to do that by spend more money to develop other parts of the country than concentrate all the means in Dar Es Salaam city only. People need to learn to establish business out of Dar Es Salaam city. The Govt needs to give incentives for companies or individuals who are moving their business to different regions or have start-up business in any other places out of Dar Es Salaam city.
The city is too crowded and it is not even safe anymore. As we have seen the recently floods that kill so many people. Everyday on the news is another road accident. Too many cars on the street and it becomes more and more polluted. The roads are so jam packed all the times..The productivity from a person who lives in the city is more and more diminishing. It is taking away family time. Many parents spend time on the roads and let the kids raised by house girls/boys..What product are we expecting to have if parents don't spend enough time with their kids? The more and more every business is open in Dar Es Salaam city, the more other towns are disappearing. Also one research found that the more the city is crowded the less the brain because when one spend a minute on a crowded city street the brain is less able to hold things in memory, and suffers from reduced self-control.
It is time the Govt to think about giving incentives to companies and individuals that move their companies or businesses out of Dar Es Salaam city. Or at least to helps regions to establish new towns or cities instead of allocating everything in Dar Es Salaam city..As we know the population in many countries in Africa will double its population in 2050. How much is the Govt prepared to accommodate it is citizens when the number is double. Why do we need to wait? Why can't we start little by little?
