Selective Colorization Photo

It is pretty easy to do that. There are so many ways to do this but I will demonstrate only two ways. You can choose which one you think it's easier for you.

If you don't have any photo editor, you can try the free one picnik that is available but I have not yet tried that one so I can't give you any review on that.

Photoshop 7.0
  1. Open an Image ....... File > Open
  2. Make a duplicate of the image .........Layer > duplicate layers ( you can give it a new name of just leave it as it is)
  3. Now we will create an Adjustment Layer to alter the colors in the image. Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation.
  4. Click on the Colorize check box. Slide the Hue to -100
  5. Select a suitable brush and select black as the foreground color.
  6. Now start painting on the Hue/Saturation layer mask, you should see the original colors being revealed.
  7. If you're not too accurate with your painting just select white as the foreground color and paint on the affected area to erase the error.
  8. Save your picture
Photo Shop Element 6.0
  1. Open an Image ....... File > Open
  2. Make a duplicate of the image .........Layer > Duplicate layers
  3. make sure you ae working on the background copy...... and then select Enhance > Convert to black and white or you can do a shortcut by pressing ALT + CTRL + B.
  4. Select the area you want to keep keep the color. You can select this by using either lasso tool, marquee tool magic wand or selection brush. If you want to choose two different areas hold Shift key and move your cursor to the area
  5. Delete the selecting area.
  6. Then deselect ........ Select > Deselect or Ctrl + D
  7. Go Layer > flatten image in order to be able to save your picture on JPEG format.
  8. Save as > JPEG
