Play Dough (No cream of tartar)

It was a rain day so I needed something new to keep my daughter busy indoor for a day. I decided to make her a play dough. When searching for the recipe online I found most of them called for a cream of tartar. I didn't have that but I stumbled on a recipe that didn't use the cream of tartar.

It was the first time to make this but worked very well. She was busy playing with that for the whole day. The good thing about this homemade play dough is that not only it is healthier but lighter on the wallet too.
I was happy with the results..The hard part was to mix the colors. So here is my modified version. This is a cook recipe. You can keep this dough up to 2 months in a tight container or use small plastic bags

Play Dough Recipe:
  • 2 Cup Plain Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 1/2 cornstarch
  • 6 tsp of vinegar or lemon juice
  • 3 Tablespoons of Oil
  • 1 cup of water ( 1/2 more or less depends on the type of flour you are using)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Food Coloring
Method
  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a saucepan
  2. Whisk in the water over low heat
  3. Mix in the vinegar
  4. Pour in the oil
  5. Put the mixture in a mixer and mix to form a play dough texture. If you don't have a mixer then let it cool and mix with your hands.
  6. Split up the dough, and knead in the food color
